Remembering Blessings
I’ve thought many times about starting a blog about the blessings that our family receives. In this world of darkness and insanity it’s easy to forget that God really does love us. He does look out for the needs of every one of us. President Henry B. Eyring once spoke about this same idea. It was a little bit more Low-Tech, but in the October 2007 General Conference he stated;

I was sitting in a turn lane and was struck by a vehicle going about sixty miles per hour. She was distracted so she never even tried to hit the brakes. My very sweet friend Riley posted a comment on Bretts photo of the car.

“I wrote down a few lines every day for years. I never missed a day no matter how tired I was or how early I would have to start the next day. Before I would write, I would ponder this question: “Have I seen the hand of God reaching out to touch us or our children or our family today?” As I kept at it, something began to happen. As I would cast my mind over the day, I would see evidence of what God had done for one of us that I had not recognized in the busy moments of the day. As that happened, and it happened often, I realized that trying to remember had allowed God to show me what He had done.”(Video)
Last year I got in a pretty gnarly car accident.

I truly had never thought about this one being anything but a blessing. It could have turned out so awful! There are so many horrible scenarios that I had running through my head that it never occurred to me to feel sorry for myself. (That could have been the drugs talking.) That was when I thought it might be a good idea to start blogging again and make sure to count our blessings.
It’s obviously been a little while. I got a pretty good concussion and I’m still wading through the fog every now and again. Something is nudging me lately to start blogging again so I’m going to listen. We all know that everyday can be hard. There are so many things that make our world a hard place. But if we can just “Look for the hand of God in our lives”, it makes things a little more bearable. Sometimes it can even be joyful! Let’s all work for a truly joyful existence.
